No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

1 Corinthians 10 :13 is often misquoted or misunderstood because people rephrase it into the popular saying: "God will not give you more than you can handle." This phrase sounds comforting but it distorts the verse's actual meaning.
It is about temptation and not life burdens or suffering. Paul is talking about resisting sin, not dealing with overwhelming life circumstances. God is faithful. He watches over us and will never allow us to be tempted in a way that makes obedience impossible. There is always a way of escape. God provides strength and practical ways to resist temptation and to endure it.
Let us also consider 2 Corinthians 1:8-11, "We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself...But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God..."
In this passage, Paul clearly says he faced more than he could handle; so much so that he felt as if he were under a death sentence. But through it, he learned to rely on God's strength, not his own.
God does not promise a life free of crushing burdens but He promises His presence, strength and deliverance through it. His faithfulness in temptation and power in weakness are both vital to our endurance as Christians.
Grace and Peace.
